For all those of you who thought I was down and out and who secretly whispered to themselves "The mans lost his touch", here's a rude awakening! I'm BACK!!! and I'm not going anywhere... I may not have posted too much recently but I'm very much there and ticking.

I'm reading a book at the moment. Its called iCon. Its a book about Steve Jobs: Apple co-founder and CEO.
It is an interesting read. It portrays the life of Steve Jobs (duh!) in a very interesting manner. The writer obviously wasn't out to please the man who the book is about. The amount of bad stuff written about him is outrageous and amazing if true. Its no surprise that Steve Jobs banned the sale of his own biography from Apple retail stores.

I can't blame him though. Well written as the book is, it is a little too fantastic. A lot of dirt is thrown in, which can be argued saying that "Hey, its the truth" but the sensationalism might just have been unnecessary.

Don't get me wrong though. I love the book. Its as captivating as a Harry Potter book. Will he survive the getting thrown out of Apple?( Will he survive Voldemort?)... Will he be able to make Pixar and NeXT work? (Will he find the remaining horcruxes?)... Will he be as brash in his personal life? (Will he ever get Ginny?)... and so on..

It shows Jobs as a ruthless, abrasive, tyrannic, cynical, absurd yet inspiring, forward looking, no taking no for an answer, shrewd, brilliant man. I think the former qualities described is what made him ban the book in his stores.

Nevertheless. It is a great read. It provides insight in how 5 years this man made Apple from a mere garage to a billion dollar venture, how he managed to get the boot from the company that he made, how from a billionare he almost reached the point of hardly any money and then made it all back, how he returned to his own company and made a turn around. (When Bill Gates had just started Jobs was already a multi millionare)

Tell me how you like the book after you read it.

I'd just like to agree with the subtitle of the book though. Steve Jobs: The Greatest Second Act In The History Of Business. Indeed.

"My heart will always be there. My relationship with the company is like a first love. I'll always rememeber Apple in the same way any man remembers the first woman he's fallen in love with.
To me, Apple exists in the spirit of the people who work there and the philosophies and purpose by which they go about their business. If Apple becomes a place where computers are a commodity item, where the romance is gone, and where people forget that computers are the most incredible invention man has ever invented, I'll feel I've lost Apple.
But if I'm a million miles away. and all those people still feel those things and they're still working to make the next personal computer, then I feel that my genes are still there."
--Steve Jobs on being ousted from Apple.
