Hi!

I was just thinking the other day about this interesting thing I'd noticed. These days a lot of people go.. "Hey, did you like see the new episode of that new show" and people continue discussing them.. there are cult followings.. there are people imitating TV show characters.. etc. You know its a matter of pride to have seen the new episode as soon as its released or have episodes of a really good show on your hard drive. It gets me thinking. Are TV shows the new books?

I know a lot of people who haven't read a single book their whole life but would've seen all the TV show/Sitcoms around. And these people are actually interesting to talk to. You know when we were young we watched stuff like Tom and Jerry, Dexter's Laboratory, Speed Racer etc (For all you dear oldie goldies who're reading this and have no idea what they are, they're cartoon shows) and suddenly I have people my own age (18 and above; and I'm still talking about cartoons) watching all this stuff and loving it. Its like: "Give me any TV show and I'll love it".
There used to be a time (still is actually) where people discussed stuff like "Hey did you read the new book by that new guy". But somehow the kind of reaction I'm used to seeing for books I see for TV shows.

Actually I'm part of the group that reads books and watches TV shows and find them both very fascinating. But I have this sinking feeling that books aren't the "In" thing anymore. TV shows are "IN".

Anyway. Just some of my musings. For me books will always be IN. And in a way so will these TV shows. My current read is the "Restaurant at the end of the universe". Gotta find out the recipe of the Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster.

Cheers mates! Have fun reading and viewing over the weekend. Adios!
